It's been a really long time since I last updated as I've been trying to settle in... Here's a recap of what i ve been up to: Seattle 31 Dec 05 It's an adventurous day out downtown... We went to alki beach park, could see the snow-capped mount Rainie from there. Had lunch at Spud, one of the oldest fast-food there i tink. Nice fish and chips and prawns... really fresh, except it's kinda salty. Fresh from the sea perhaps... haha! And we proceeded to guess where??? Krispy Kreme!!! Oh gosh, never dreamt that i could have went to Krispy Kreme!!! Felt so happy that marketing seemed be brought to life, it's definitely a memorable new year's eve i could never have asked for. Cool isnt it? But actuallly i felt that the doughtnuts were a bit too sweet... Haha! And we went on to downtown area, to Pike's Marketplace ( we took a long walk, snapping along the way that we never seemed to be reaching our destination), to Starbuck's, the first in the world. Fruitful day huh? Had more den a cuppa there, of coz we shared, otherwise i wouldnt have been so "ambitious". I loved the mocha!!! After which we split our way and my group went to walk ard the roadside. Side-track a bit: toilets were a chore... It's no public restrooms everywhere we went. Well, we went to Abercombie, saw the horse carriage on the roadside(pretty cool sightings but with some smell... hehe!) went into adidias (or was tt nike??? oops) All of us gathered back at the arts museum ( did i mention tt there's was a damn long q in the afternoon for entry into the museum??? stark contrast against tt in sgp) and we were resting our poor legs in the museum while being absorbed in a band's performance... It's was really relaxing and the music and singing were so soothing that i almost wanted to stay on. We moved on to Mac's for dinner. Everyone were like on tight budget so we had the 1 dollar bacon cheeseburger. Were chased out sharply at 9pm and i heard we had to show receipts to get into the washrooms. Moved on to the Space needle as we wanted to spend our new year countdown with the crowd but the rain had dampened everything. We reached the Space needle and found tt it's closed and some of us decided to return home to celebrate instead. A few of them stayed on despite the rain. I was actually pretty exhausted after one whole day of exploration and was glad to be back home. My parents called me just in time and we had a nice chat before i headed to the roof top to countdown wif my frens. Had red and white wines (I sponsored a white wine... where did tt illegal stuff (i'm still underaged ) come from??? haha) before i fell into a deep sleep in my icy cold room but comfy bed without booster. I will be aiming for a nice bubble bath in my bathtub... Haha! Seattle 1 Jan 06 New Year day... It's pretty quiet and the streets were rather empty. Long Qing, Ray and Yuan Feng and Me went downtown, chinatown area to explore on our own. It's pretty quiet and nothing much interesting actually. But this time we went into the chinatown district to explore and found a nice jap supermarket with really NICE prices... haha, i only bought ONE bubble gum from there. The chinatown district was pretty disappointing as it wasnt as vibrant as i expected to have been. Fell really short of expectations. Seattle 2 Jan 06 Went to northgate, Target to shop. And i got myself a Clairol Herbal Essence Shampoo and conditional (one for one, nice deal) and a packet of cereals. My hair were all damaged by the weather and all the wind which made me regret not importing my conditional over so i decided to make it up to myself by laying my hands on that rainforest conditional. haha! Dinner was at a chinese resturant and we had a fortune cookie each after dinner. My paper says: You will meet a new friend today. Did i? I doubt so. Seattle 3 Jan 06 First day to school!!! Excited? Apprehension? Jitters? Mixed feelings. I had only one lesson and was pretty relieved that i actually managed to understand what the prof was on. But still din managed to catch their jokes perhaps due to cultural differences. Only managed to get to know one new fren, a taiwanese gal. Izzt kind of pathetic for the first day of sch??? Textbooks are a real gem over here. I never knew how precious paper, textbooks were until i came here. Muz make sure i swallow every page of the textbook once i lay my hands on mine... Juz kidding man, i'm not so capable of that. Seattle 4 Jan 06 Went on to my intro to entre class and realised how many potential and rising entre there are in my class. Really impressive. But i ve to gif up on this class this quarter as i wanna conc on my already demanding core subjects. Me and LQ and Ray Got a free shirt and water bottle from Pricewaterhousecoopers. Ray even luckier, got an additional free chair and he's hanging his clothes to dry on it now. Lunch was at Fiuts gathering... aim was to MAKE FRENS!!! and sub-aim was to eat... or was it other way round??? Seattle 6 Jan 06 Went to bay area with Ray, Jia xiang and Simon. Was trying to get away from the shopping gang as i was trying to curb my spending. We walked ard for a really long dist dat i felt so luckily i din wear my boots out. Weather was considered great as it din rained and the wind wasnt that strong. We saw a pair of mandarin ducks and one squirrel. Returned home in time to join in the potluck organised wif the SSA (i forgot what it stands for, but it's the sgp ppl) and we had a fulfiling nite, filling our stomachs to the brim and enjoying every bit of the food due to the variety that we had been deprived of even since we landed here. Haha! Making frens was secondary as my reason is... It's a bad first impression if you are seen talking with your mouth full and as food is bound to spill from your mouth, thus i decided and convinced my frens why we should eat first before we Make Frens. Haha! The dessert was Deyer's choco ice-cream, i heard it was on discount, thumbs up to the person who found tt great deal! haha! My group cooked the chick-ku-teh and we made jasmine tea. But there werent any bowls provided (we din meant it tt way.... din foresee that kind of situation... haha), however so, half pot was gone by the end of the event. Haha! Seattle 7 Jan 06 Went back to lib on a sat morning. Can anyone believe it? For someone like me who never borrowed a single book in my jc days and my uni days, who appeared in lib only to use the com or otherwise on assignments basis, who never take off any book from the shelf to study and who most of the time is found sleeping in the library. But i only went back to borrow my textbooks as it would take some time to get my books shipped over. The last time i was in the lib was LQ, we ended up sleeping in the lib and i woke up only after my stomach started to growl. haha! Slacker in action again! Today was supp to stay home to rush assigments and stuff but i ended up sleeping after lunch to dinner time and me and yuan feng cooked our own dinner as our dinner group had went out in the afternoon. We had a sumptuous dinner thou and i was the self-declared main chef. Yuan feng was able to see thru the satisfaction in me as i was able to cook the veggies in my own way and flavour... haha!
